Great sci-fi for kids!

My husband and son (8 yrs.) read this months ago and loved it. I recently read it and enjoyed it too. It’s a great introduction to sci-fi for kids. I love that 2 of the main characters are girls. The kids turn their pets into huge robotic animals and fight in competitions. They use some non-traditional pets (one is a hermit crab) and some non-conventional weapons. The robobattle pets were created to fight off alien attacks. If your child likes animals, robots and/or video games then this is the perfect book for them.
